WW2 Painting Guide: Fallschirmjaeger

I needed a painting for my Fallschirmjaeger in a hurry – so Roland Davis could paint some more. So I took some snaps of my existing figures. This is one of my WW2 Painting Guides.

Steven’s Figures

Roland Davis, John Mclennan, and a couple of guys on eBay painted the figures. I have shared a few close ups to show the general style and colours.

Battle Front / Flames of War

The Vallejo colour schemes from Battle Front: Fallschirmjaeger Camouflage. As it happens I don’t like the way they’ve painted the figures, but the colour suggestions seem sensible.

Item When Area Colours based on actual clothing Vallejo Paints with Colour Chart Patches
Plain olive green Smock Early War
886 Green Grey
Splinter pattern camouflage (Had jagged straight edges)
(This is the Tan variation; also came with a pale greenish base)
From 1941 (before Crete) base colour
821 German Camo Beige
Jagged patches
826 German Camo Medium Brown
Jagged patches
823 Luftwaffe Camo Green or

890 reflective green
Water pattern camouflage (Had rounded edges): From late 1943 base colour
874 US Tan Earth –
Blotch
940 Saddle brown
Blotch
890 reflective green or

823 Luftwaffe Camo Green)
Tropical Jacket
Tropical Trousers
Blue Trouser

In terms of style of painting, I actually prefer the way the camo is painted on other BattleFront pages:

This one seems to have a mix of early war and camo uniforms, which seems a bit odd.
