No início de Maio de 1973, a guarnição militar de Guidaje era constituída por uma companhia de
caçadores do recrutamento local, a Companhia de Caçadores 19 e pelo Pelotão de Artilharia 24,
equipado com obuses de 10,5 cm.

auxiliar de enfermeiro correu para junto dele a fim de o socorrer. Estando ajoelhado a seu lado
foi atingido por uma rajada que lhe provocou a morte. Começavam a escassear as munições e foi dada
ordem para fazer fogo de precisão, tanto quanto possível. Quando o fogo parou por escassos
segundos um dos furriéis tentou chegar junto dos mortos para recuperar os corpos. Quando se
levantava para realizar esta acção, pela terceira vez o IN atacou as nossas posiçes. Notando a
impossibilidade de recuperar os corpos dos mortos e porque a falta de munições era quase total, o
comandante viu-se coagido a ordenar a retirada… “.
