In Legends of Al-Andalus you might encounter the Villagers. This section is used for villagers in fertile area of the Emirate near the City (the Vega) or their kindred in the nearby mountains (the Sierra). The villagers of the Sierra are slightly more militant than their compatriots of the Vega. They have to be given they regularly have to face raids by bandits and adjacent powers.
Meeting Villagers
Villagers are mostly found in their villages (1-4) or very close by in the open country (5-6).
Villagers can be men (1-2), women (3-4) or children (5-6).
Villagers in the Vega will be Andalusian (1-5) or Mozarab Christian (6).
Villagers in the Sierra will be Andalusian (1-5) or Berber (6).
Talk the Talk
See Talk the Talk. The NPCs are Rep 5 for this encounter. Additional NPC reaction modifiers are:
- +2 if you are the Army
- -1 if you are a Vega Villager and interacting with Sierra Villagers, or vice versa.
- -2 if you are hated enemy (e.g. a Bandit, enemy Muslim or enemy Christian)

Employment as a Villager
Joining
Characters from a village can rejoin at any time. Other characters can join a village if they get a Favourable or Swept of Feet reaction.
Location
Villages in either Vega or Sierra.
Encounters
Encounters while with a village are determined by this process:
- No encounter this month (1-5) or encounter (6).
- Encountered group are the Army (1-2), Beasts (3), Bandits (4), enemy Muslim army (5) or Christian army (6)
- Encounter is:
- If encounter the Army: Talk the Talk
- Otherwise: suffer a raid
Wages
A character employed as a Villager gets no wages, however, they keep any Loot and Booty collected.
Leaving
You can leave any time you like.

Throw 2d6 on the appropriate recruitment table (Vega or Sierra) until you have a force of sufficient points.
Villagers (Vega)
The Villagers of the Vega are slightly less militant than their compatriots of the Sierra. Aside from their religion there is no difference between Andalusian and Mozarab villagers.

Berber Villagers (Sierra)
The Villagers of the Sierra are slightly more militant than their compatriots of the Vega. Traditionally Berber tribesmen used light spears only only relatively recently had adopted long thrusting spears.
