A few notes on painting a Portuguese colonial army in Ceylon.

Gaspar Figueira de Serpe, as Captain-Major of the Four and Seven Korales, carried a white faced shield as the symbol of his office. Well, actually, he had a shield bearer who carried it.

 
The King of Kandy’s banner was a crowned lion.
