Photos from SELWG 2013 – Crossfire and Carlist Participation Games

Last Sunday I helped put on a Crossfire participation game at SELWG 2013. I took a few shots of the Crossfire games and of the Carlist War table just behind us.

Crossfire Participation Games

Two clubs combined to put on the Crossfire participation games:

  • East Grinstead Gamers: Martin Groat, Brian Riches, Alex Groat, and David Fleck put on two 1m x 1m games.
  • Finchley Wargaming Club: Chris Harrod and I did the 2’x2′ games.

New for SELWG was the Crossfire banner. Martin organised this via work contacts. Attracting visitors is the biggest problem at shows and the banner really helped let people know what we were about.

The combined Crossfire team got an honourable mention in the awards for having four games going at the same time. It was quite busy.

We had two 2’x2′ tables going all the time. Chris took care of one of the 2’x2′ tables and I took the other. Here Chris is helping a couple of punters fighting their way through “The Woods”.

The Woods was the first 2’x2′ scenario in our set. It is a pretty good scenario for novices because there is a lot of terrain on the table.

The Hill is the second of the 2’x2′ scenarios we ran. It poses quite a lot of challenges for both sides because of the wide fields of fire. In the three games I recorded there was two Spanish victories and one Soviet.

I had a couple of younger players join in games. Harry and his father fought it out in The Farm – the fourth scenario in the series. Dad won but Harry put up a good showing.

My terrain / tables is is functional but not flash. But those of the East Grinstead guys are amazing. I hadn’t seen their Normandy Bocage game. One word = “Beautiful”.

Martin and crew also put on my Mekensievy-Gory Scenario. I didn’t take any photos at SELWG but you can see photos from Salute

First Carlist War Participation Game

I love the Carlist Wars so when I discovered a participation game right behind us I couldn’t help but take a few shots.

  1. Good News! Arty has agreed to take all neccesary steps to produce another printing of Cross Fire. He has other projects to complete before he can give more thought to a CF2. But more copies can be nothing but a good thing.
