In 1524 Cortes instituted obligatory militia service in Mexico. This list covers all Spanish forces in Central America from that time, and in South America from 1572 . Both Pike and Shot included Regulars (about 1/4 of the total and with a 1:1 Pike to Shot ratio) and Militia (3:2 Pike to Shot). For simplicity I don’t distinguish them on quality. Shot could also include a small number of arquebusiers from independent companies. Escopeteros were mounted arquebusiers. All pikes were the 12′ half-pike. Crossbowmen initially dominated in the Shooters, but by 1534 had been completely replaced by arquebusiers, who were in turn replaced by musketeers in 1659.

Spanish Ln and WD are Impetuous: Under the same conditions as can Warbands they can move a second or subsequent tactical move during the same bound (p. 9), and must pursue their own base depth when a close combat opponent does a recoil, break-off, flee or is destroyed (p. 11).

This list covers all land based activity in the New World by French, English and Dutch privateers, pirates, corsairs, and buccaneers. It starts with Drake’s first expeditions into the Caribbean. Early shot could have bows and arquebus, but by 1624 would have been using muskets. Cimaroons were escaped negro slaves living in communities in the wild.

Buccanneer BdE are Impetuous: Under the same conditions as can Warbands they can move a second or
subsequent tactical move during the same bound (p. 9), and must pursue their own base depth when a
close combat opponent does a recoil, break-off, flee or is destroyed (p. 11).
