Standard Crossfire Orders of Battle

Orders of battle are a central part of Scenarios so I wanted one place where I could find the Crossfire Orders of Battle I use regularly. I can just copy and paste into a new scenario. Obviously I’ve got an bias towards the Eastern Front.

These orders of battle reflect Arty’s assumptions. In particular they are reduced from full strength with less support weapons than you would see in a full strength unit. You could, for example, historically justify doubling all HMG although this might unbalance the game.

Soviet Orders of Battle for Crossfire

The most common Soviet formations I use are Leg Infantry Battalions or the subordinate companies. The only curly fact is that early war formation had four squads per platoon whereas mid to late war platoons had three squads. I also occasionally field sub-machinegun companies.

Other places on my site you can find Soviet orders of battle:

German Orders of Battle for Crossfire

The Germans started the war with a high proportion of support weapons in heavy companies. These disappeared mid war.

In Crossfire the Germans benefit from an extra HMG stand at the company level to reflect the high rate of fire of their squad level support weapons – the MG34 / MG42. The Germans benefit from this throughout the war.

Late War German Leg Infantry (1944-45)

In the late war the Germans used more mortars for the company level heavy weapons.

Rocket propelled infantry anti-tank weapons (panzerfausts, panzershreks) were introduced late 1943, however, they were only universally available at the end of the war. This means formations in 1944-45 might have minimal infantry anti-tank weapons, in quantities comparable to other nationalities, or lots of them.
