Some musing by Nikolas Lloyd on Campaign Rules and Group Morale in Crossfire. Shared on the Crossfire-WWII discussion forum.
Wargaming
Wargaming and Military History are the interests I pour most of my spare time into. This section concentrates on the wargaming rules I’m interested in. I’ve got quite a lot on running wargaming campaigns. I’ve also got sub-categories on: Crossfire, DBx (including DBA and HOTT), Twilight of the Sun King, Engle Matrix Games, Megablitz, Liberators QPR, Field of Glory. All other rules are lumped together.

Order of Battle for Fuego Cruzado
The Spanish Civil had a lot in common with WWII, but there were some key differences. I’ve got a separate page on the historical Spanish Civil War Order of Battle. Here I have attempted to explain the organisation of the dominant formations as they would appear in Fuego Cruzado – my variant of Crossfire for Spain’s wars.
Wargames Rules for the Spanish Civil War
Here are my thoughts on wargaming rules for the Spanish Civil War.
Wargaming Campaigns for DBx, DBA, HOTT, DBM and DBR
I am a fan of campaigns and I’ve tried a few things involving the DBx family of tactical rules. The campaign system included in DBA/HOTT is ideal for one day events. And the same DBA/HOTT campaign system can be tweaked to make campaigns with more detailed tactical rules; I’ve run a couple of big DBM campaigns like this. But over time I have returned to the basics and used DBA/HOTT for the tactical rules as well. My latest initiative like this was Britannia 600 AD. DBA/HOTT are also a good complement for campaigns using Engle Matrix Games.
A Load of Gauls – A DBA Campaign Matrix Game
‘A Load of Gauls’ is a Engle Matrix Game campaign based on the Gallic invasion of Italy in 225-224 BC. Battles are fought using DBA. The game was devised by Colin Tothill although I’ve made minor tweaks to it.

Wargaming the Battle of Te Ahuahu
There is much in the description of the Battle of Te Ahuahu that can inform a wargaming refight.
