A key element of the Portuguese Colonial War was convoys. Either military convoys to supply fortified posts or civilian convoys travelling through dangerous areas under government guard. I’ve been building up a convoy to put on table. Both armoured cars and armoured personnel carriers using my Painting Guide for Recce Vehicles of the Portuguese Colonial War. But I’ve also been painting civilian trucks. This is a bit of a gallery of the result = Steven’s convoy.
Civilian Trucks
Firstly some trucks. I’ve used military vehicles but painted them colourfully to make them “civilian”. The vehicles are primarily from the USA, including the WW2 era GMC 6×6 plus the M35 and M54 from Vietnam. I’ve also got a couple of British CMP trucks from WW2. Basically I was looking for big trucks. They seem to look the part.

Military escort vehicles
I’ve got quite a lot of escort vehicles. Far more than I need for a single convoy. The collection includes a mine crasher, a unimog technical, normal unimogs, and three Recce troops of armoured cars (AML-60, EBR-75, Fox). Each Recce troop includes a scout car, two armoured cars, and an armoured personnel carrier.

Looks terrific. Hope the scenarios play out well.
