Some Crossfire photos shared by Arty Conliffe

Arty Conliffe, author of Crossfire, shared some photos and said it was okay for me to publish them here. All words are Arty’s.

54mm Crossfire

At one of our big conventions, (likely, late 90s), someone did a 54mm CF game—played on the carpet in a ballroom. Was pretty cool. Nice thing about CF is scale does not matter in some ways. All that remains is one photo in digital but I have hardcopies someplace.

Some shots from the guys who play in NY. My guys here in NY have done some beautiful Stalingrad gaming with CF. 15mm, I think. OK to upload or use on your site. They have sewer rules too. They have sewer manhole grates for precise entry and exit locations — and rules for those encounters. Their games are large affairs. Need to see this in-person to appreciate.

  1. Very cool! That first old photo really has a vintage look to it, very appropriate! And very nice to read something from Arty.

I must say though that 54mm is way too large to be practical for almost any tabletop wargame…

    • Yes, I think the phrase “played on the carpet in a ballroom” highlights the limitation of this scale.
